School Supply Drive

Store shelves are loaded with school supplies just waiting to be purchased!  However, many of our neighborhood families with children who attend Park Elementary, our partnership school, cannot afford the supplies requested.  In families with several children, this becomes an overwhelming financial burden.

For 12 years, First Church has helped provide school supplies for Park School children.  Especially needed are backpacks, EXPO markers, Kleenex type tissues, zip-lock type bags of all sizes and disinfectant wipes.

Financial donations made to the church and noted for School Partnerships will also allow us to purchase items as they are needed.

Both Park and Washington Elementary participate in the AVID program, a curriculum designed to help students think about the skills they need for higher education and aspire to stay in school as long as possible.  Students are allowed to wear college themed tops on designated special days.  Shirts can be new or gently used.  Discount and thrift stores, garage sales, and even your own closets may provide a college shirt for a Park or Washington child.

Do you remember the smell of those new crayons and the excitement of your first day of a new school year?  Please join us in providing items necessary to get our neighborhood children off to a great start!  Of course, items for both schools can also be brought to the church throughout the year.

Between gifts from First Church congregants and donations to the tip jar by Mead’s Corner patrons, God uses our gifts to encourage success for our neighborhood children who otherwise do not always have a promising future.

Baskets for collecting items will be located at both entrances.
