Religious Nurture Center

A Ministry for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities age 17 and up

Since 1961, the Religious Nurture Center (RNC) has been an active and vital ministry of First United Methodist Church in downtown Wichita. Created for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities of any faith tradition, the RNC offers the opportunity for fellowship and activities in a Christ based atmosphere. Our purpose is to help individuals with disabilities be active disciples of Jesus Christ by seeking spiritual and personal growth in everything we do.

Sunday Mornings (9a.m.-noon): Learn about the glory of God through music, scripture readings, dramatizations, prayer, interactive Bible studies and attending worship service.

Wednesday Evenings (6 p.m.-8 p.m.): Activities for the evening include Bible Study, Bible Trivia and Jeopardy, BINGO and prizes, Live musical guests, Magic Shows, Art Projects, Pet Therapy dogs. Community Outings at no cost to members to attend Wichita Thunder hockey games, Wichita Wind Surge baseball games, pickleball and food at Chicken N Pickle, bowling and pizza parties and Forum Theatre performances. Members can also enjoy our pool table, basketball game and movie theatre popcorn machine. Thanks to generous donations to the program, there is no cost to participate in Wednesday activities.
