Celebrating 100 Workteams at FUMC
In August 2003, a workteam went from FUMC to Ghana. It was our 100th team! FUMC started sending out adult and family workteams in 1990. From one team in 1990, the program has grown to where the church currently sends out 10-12 teams each year. These teams have been to different states and 17 different countries. These teams have worked on the homes of the poor, cleaned up and rebuilt after hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, gone into countries immediately after war to help rebuild lives, worked with refugees, helped build churches and school, worked in orphanages, done vacation Bible school for Eskimo children, worked on the Taos, Hopi, Cherokee, Navaho and Havasupi Indian reservations, have helped with repairs and maintenance at our UM camps and much more. Hundreds of FUMC members have participated and hundreds of people have had their lives changed. We believe in putting our faith into action and in doing so have made a Christian difference the world over, and have received so many blessings in return! Listed below are the 100 teams FUMC has sent out from 1990 – 2003.
