Called into mission…
As followers of Jesus the Christ, we are called to be in mission. The scriptural mandate is clear. Jesus sent his disciples out (John 17:18), the Holy Spirit empowered the early Christians to take the Gospel to others (Acts 2), and the risen Christ commands us to "go into the world" (Mt. 28:19)
Responded in Faith…
As United Methodists, we stand in a long tradition of sending missionaries around the world. Through the support of local churches, we have preached the Gospel, trained leaders, offered education, created health care programs, and built numerous churches, schools, and hospitals.
Today, missionaries serve in over 80 countries, and our financial support under girds close to 10,000 mission projects.
Now we are partners…
As the fruits of our mission work have grown, the call to mission has expanded into a new partnership. Missionaries from the U.S are joined by missionaries from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, serving in their own countries and internationally.
A new vision of mission is offered to the Church today: a truly global partnership involving Christians everywhere.
