Who Oversees Missions At FUMC?

Actually, there are two commissions at our church who oversee the mission work of the church- The Commission on Community Outreach and Social Concerns and the Commission on Missions. Because the scope of the mission work of First Church is so vast, the mission work has been divided into local missions and missions beyond Wichita. The Commission on Missions oversees mission beyond Wichita, which includes our adult and family work teams, our Disaster response team, all global mission projects, missionaries and mission education. Just as important, but falling under the Commission on Commmunity Outreach and Social Concerns, is our community ministries, social issues, and race relations. This Commission oversees our First Welcome program with the city's homeless children, the Prison Ministry, Medshare, the Literacy Volunteer Program, In-Town Work Teams and the Home Improvement Crew. Lots of outreach is happening at FUMC and both commissions stay very busy overseeing our missions programs.
