Throughout the month of January, First Church will be providing breakfast for the homeless at the Overflow Shelter. Depending upon the weather, 80-100 men stay at the Overflow Shelter each night. It is requested that each class sign up to provide breakfast items for one week during January. Individuals may also sign up for any time. The church will then deliver the items to the Overflow Shelter. This eliminates the need to be at the Overflow Shelter at 5:30 a.m.

Some suggested items follow:

Dry cereal

Granola bars and cereal bars

Honey buns and other individually wrapped pastries

Individually wrapped packages of nuts and “smart snacks”

We are asking that classes sign up for one of the weeks in January and bring your items to the church on Sunday mornings. Individuals and/or families and/or other groups may also sign up by contacting Annette Schmidt,, and letting her know when and what you would like to provide. Donations will also be accepted. Checks should be made payable to First United Methodist Church and a note on the memo line should indicate “Overflow Shelter”. Questions? Contact the Missions Department at 267-6244 ext. 320 or
