Join us for a celebration of 10 years of Mead’s Corner ministry on Sunday, July 29 from 2-4 p.m.  A special presentation will begin at 3 p.m.  The last day of operations will be Saturday, July 28.

Mead’s Corner Statement:

For nearly ten years, First United Methodist Church has operated Mead’s Corner Coffeehouse at 430 E. Douglas. The lease for Mead’s Corner expires at the end of August. On behalf of the Church, the Board of Trustees was in contact with the Landlord’s leasing agent regarding the terms of a new lease. We received a proposal from the Landlord that included a significant increase in rent.

After considerable discussion of the Landlord’s proposal, the Church Council concluded that the cost of renewing the lease would be too high and that the lease should not be renewed. This was a very difficult decision and there was considerable sadness and grief that came with it.

Although we all are disappointed that the operation of Mead’s Corner will be coming to an end, we are grateful for the devoted efforts of all of the staff and volunteers who have worked to make it such an amazing and meaningful ten years. A transition team has been named to plan for the remaining weeks of operation.

The last day of operation for Mead’s Corner will be Saturday, July 28. On Sunday, July 29, there will be a celebration of its ten years of ministry and outreach. Details will be announced later. The hope and prayer of all who have been part of this difficult decision is that while the operation of Mead’s Corner will be ending, the vision and mission will continue in some form. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

Graced to Serve,

Pastor Cindy
