The Gathering at Mead’s Corner will continue! Of course, in the wake of Mead’s Corner closing, we will no longer be meeting at Mead’s Corner. Instead, we will be forging forward in a new partnership with New Covenant UMC in their Life Support Center at 1718 W. Douglas in Delano. New Covenant UMC has been working directly with marginalized persons in our community while in partnership with other UMC churches (as well as other organizations), and we hope to offer them some energy and opportunity in exchange for a home outside of our doors...

School Supply Drive Store shelves are loaded with school supplies just waiting to be purchased!  However, many of our neighborhood families with children who attend Park Elementary, our partnership school, cannot afford the supplies requested.  In families with several children, this becomes an overwhelming financial burden. This year the list has been scaled down to a few specific supplies especially needed: backpacks, EXPO markers, colored pencils, Kleenex tissues, zip-lock type bags of all sizes and disinfectant wipes. We are excited to welcome the newest professing members of First Church!  The Confirmation class  lead worship at Downtown Alive on November 12.  Six youth took vows of membership and made professions of faith! Confirmation is a journey of faith to learn more about God and the church in order to become an adult member of the church.  However, we believe that Confirmation is much more than just joining the church.     This July, First Church will begin offering a support group for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association.
