Religious Nurture Center

A Ministry for Persons with Developmental Disabilities
100 D

The Religious Nurture Center is an active and vital ministry of the church. Created for people with developmental disabilities of any age or faith tradition, the RNC offers the opportunity for fun and fellowship in a Christ-based atmosphere. Our purpose is to seek spiritual and personal growth in everything we do.

Sunday mornings are an exciting time for us as we seek to learn about the Glory of God through singing, scripture readings, dramatizations, prayer and interactive Bible studies. We begin the day with fellowship, music and refreshments from 8:30 – 9:30 am. At 9:30 we begin an hour-long journey into the Bible. During this time, we experience the Bible lesson using as many of our 5 senses as possible. By using sensory integration to “experience” the story, students come away with a better understanding of what the people in Bible times went through as well as a tool to help with story retention. From 10:45 – 12:00, members may choose to attend the worship service in the sanctuary or remain in the room to watch the service on KAKE TV 10.

Wednesday nights, beginning at 6:15 pm, the Religious Nurture Center comes alive as laughter, singing and conversation fills the four corners of our rooms! Activities for the evening include games, crafts, Nintendo Wii on our big screen tv, music, dancing, pool, and air hockey. Other activities on Wednesday nights that occur throughout the year are visits from a pet therapy group, dances, educational speakers, magicians and a variety of theme parties. From time to time, guest speakers will stop by the RNC to teach us about how to stay healthy and safe.
